Theme of the Week: Healthy Teeth!

This week it's all about healthy teeth! We are learning about our teeth and what we have to do to take care of them! We had two dentist assistants come in on Tuesday and talk to our class about the importance of brushing and flossing our teeth. The ladies kept telling the kids to allow mommy and daddy to help! They showed the kids on a model how to brush and floss and passed around a silly stuffed dragon with some serious chompers! The kids thoroughly enjoyed the enthusiasm from our special guests and were given goodies bags with new toothbrushes to take home!

We have been working on a couple projects as well! We made mouths out of construction paper and glued little marshmallows inside for teeth! We will be making toothbrushes this week too!

If you haven't gotten a chance, check out the white board during drop-off or pick-up for reminders!

• Labels! Please label all of your child's possessions.   

• Mondays will be our sprinkler day, if the weather allows, so don't forget your swim suit, water shoes, and towel (please make sure everything is labeled!)

• Thursdays are still show and share day, so bring something new to show and share with the class!

• If your child does not come on Thursday they may bring a show and share item on Wednesday!

• New art cubbies are inside the Raccoon classroom. This is where you will find all of the art projects we have been working on!

Show and Share Day!!

Father's Day and Next Week's Theme: Health and Nutrition!

So this week the Raccoon's have been working on their Father's Day gifts! The kiddos worked really hard and put  a lot of love into these very special gifts: ) The kids were asked about what their dads do for work, why they are so special, and why they love them so much! The kids are very excited to present their gifts to their dads.


Next week is about Health and Nutrition. We will be talking about the different fruits and vegetables we love and how they help our bodies grow and stay healthy! We will hopefully be having a day to try different fruits and vegetables and talk about how wonderful it is to try new foods! We will be working on some art projects, making watermelons and building a healthy plate of food. We will also talk about foods that are not so good for us. Exercise will be another topic, and how it also helps us to keep our bodies strong and fit! We will be doing some exercises in the classroom and outside! Showing the kids how good it feels to keep your body moving and how great it is for your body overall!

Our butterfly garden is taking off and we have seen a couple butterflies come back to rest our garden! We are trying to spice up our playground. We recently had the tree cut down that shaded our sandbox: ( It was too close to the power lines and was a hazard). We hope to plant some smaller trees that will grow and help to shade our sandbox. Until then we will be getting a tent of some sort to use for shade.
